Overview

Inspired by its sensational natural surroundings, Tierra Patagonia Hotel & Spa is one of our favourite lodges for a sustainable and immersive stay. Located near the entrance of Torres del Paine National Park and overlooking the mountain-lined Lake Sarmiento, this retreat is a step into Patagonia’s rugged wilderness.

Torres del Paine National Park is an incredible destination, made for hiking, biking and kayaking amongst spectacular icebergs and snow-capped mountains – the hotel offers all these excursions and more. After exciting days of exploring, Tierra Patagonia offers the comfort needed to fully relax, including the serene Uma Spa with its gorgeous glass-panelled indoor pool. The accommodation is rustic and minimalist, instead letting the amazing lake views do the talking – local wood feature walls, sheepskin rugs and handmade throws add a cosiness to the rooms and suites. There are no televisions, allowing you to truly unwind.

Tierra Patagonia focuses on creating as little carbon footprint as possible, choosing to use LED lighting and local washed lenga wood to create a natural silhouette that blends into the dramatic scenery. The food is sustainable too, created with ingredients picked from the nearby farmlands and adding a contemporary flair to traditional Patagonian cuisine. Wash it all down with decadent Chilean wines before retreating back to your quiet room to rest.

This beautiful retreat is only 30-minutes from the entrance to Torres del Paine National Park, giving you easy access to the incredible activities that take place here. The lodge itself sits by phenomenal Lake Sarmiento, flanked by rugged snow-capped mountains and untamed wilderness.

  • Standard Rooms – These beautiful rooms are decorated with locally-inspired furnishings, boasting gorgeous views of the national park. Amenities include an in-room bathtub and a choice of one king or two twin beds.
  • Superior Rooms – The peaceful Superior Rooms are bigger than the Standard rooms, featuring large beds that look out onto the national park. The in-room bathtub has gorgeous views too, and 10 of the rooms interconnect so that large families of up to six people can relax together.
  • Suites – Enjoy the seclusion of these two-level suites, boasting a quiet downstairs bedroom with panoramic views from the king size or twin beds, plus a living room upstairs with large windows looking out onto the park. Enjoy rustic furnishings including fittings carved from local driftwood.

The lodge has a wonderful restaurant and bar, offering a cosy and inviting place to dine and drink before and after exploring the national park. Dine on hearty Patagonian cuisine, including rich stews and slow-cooked soups created with ingredients sourced from the nearby estancias (farmland). The onsite chef has an elegant and contemporary approach to his cooking, serving up dishes that would suit the most sophisticated city hotels. Floor-to-ceiling glass windows boast an incredible backdrop, whilst the circular bar beckons with its decadent Chilean wine and Patagonian beers.

Activities within the National Park, including biking, full or half day hikes, explore the beauty on horse back or kayaking on Grey Lake, take a guided tour to Laguna Azul or enjoy birdwatching

  • Uma Spa is serene and inviting, with our favourite attraction being the sensational lake and mountain views from the glass-panelled indoor pool – you may even spot wildlife while you relax. The spa also features a steam room, relaxation spaces, and an outdoor whirlpool.

    The therapies and treatments here will leave you feeling zen. They use aromatherapy oils, soft lighting and all-natural ingredients to help promote positivity and wellbeing.

  • Breakfast, lunch and dinner including mineral water, sodas, juices, house wine and liquors
  • two half-day excursions or one full-day excursion included daily in small groups with other guests
