Day 1

On arrival at the airport, you will be met by a representative of Jetwing Travels and assisted at the airport and then transferred directly to your hotel in Kandy.

Afternoon at leisure.

Day 2

After breakfast at the hotel, visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.

Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic - ever since 4th Century A.D, when the Buddha’s Tooth was brought to Sri Lanka hidden from sacrilegious hands in an Orissan princess’ hair, the Relic has grown in repute and holiness in Sri Lanka and throughout the Buddhist world. It is considered Sri Lanka’s most prized possession.

Day 3

After breakfast at the hotel, head to Kandy Railway station to journey on the Hill Train ride from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya.

The train journey is approximately 3 hours, taking you through the most beautiful parts of Sri Lanka. The train journeys are real cultural experiences and the most scenic routes will be highlights of your visit.

* If the local train is full or cancelled you will continue by private transport to Nuwara Eliya

On arrival in Nuwara Eliya you will visit a Tea Plantation, followed by a city tour of Nuwara Eliya.

Nuwara Eliya - The ‘Little England’ of Sri Lanka, is set against beautiful backdrops of Mountains, Valleys, Waterfalls and Tea Plantations. It is one of the more temperate places on the Island, the weather like an English spring day, although the temperature does drop at night. All around Nuwara Eliya you will see evidence of the British influence, houses like country cottages or Queen Anne style mansions.

Day 4

After breakfast this morning you will travel to Yala via Ella, a journey of about 2 ro 3 hours. On the way visit nine arches bridge.

Nine arches bridge - Built at 3100m above sea level, among the craggy peaks of the Central Highlands; the Nine Arches forms a viaduct between the Demodara and Ella Railway stations. Built entirely out of brick, rock and cement; without a single piece of steel; the bridge has stood solid from 1921, its time of creation. According to history, the bridge was built by the locals using such materials; when the construction came to a standstill from the lack of steel caused by World War I.

Continue on your journey to Yala, approximately 2 – 3 hours.

Day 5

 

Early this morning visit to Yala National Park with packed breakfast to enjoy a full day 4 X 4 jeep safari.

Yala National Park - Yala National Park is 378 sq. miles in extent. Yala was established in 1938 from, what originally was a Sportsman’s shooting reserve. This is the most famous and well developed National Park where wild animals and birds could be observed. The Wild animals include Elephants in herds of varying sizes, Leopards, Wild Boar, Wild Buffalo, Crocodiles, Peacock, Jackal, Sloth Bear and other animals. The bird-life comprises of about 130 species including the resident and migrants.  Painted storks, Sea Eagle, Black-Necked Stork, Spoonbills, and Pelicans add color to the bird-life in the park

Day 6

After breakfast at the hotel, you will travel to Galle, a 4 hour drive from Yala

Once in Galle explore the ancient city of Galle by bicycle.

Galle - Explore the vigorous impact made by the Dutch colonial architecture to the Sri Lankan heritage during the era of their governance in specific parts of the island It’s an observable factor to anyone who visits the island. Dutch era in Sri Lankan history lasted for 150 years, where the architectural erections of fortresses, hospitals, churches, residencies are constructed. Fortunately, some of them still remain as ruins and evidencing to the Dutch era in the island.

Day 7

After your breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Colombo airport (approx. 3 hours drive from Galle) or your desired beach resort.

Sri Lanka is a largely Buddhist country and you will often find restrictions on alcohol in place. On Full Moon Poya days and public holidays the government prohibits the serving of alcohol, but guests are able to enjoy pre-purchased drinks or those from the hotel minibar.
