Full Day Sepilok Orangutans & Labuk Bay Monkey Sanctuary

Despite its seemingly remote jungle location, you can travel to the centre on this wonderful day tour from Kota Kinabula with a short flight and seamless guided travel throughout. This is a day tour perfect for wildlife fans where you will gain a real insight into Borneo’s indigenous animals and the efforts to conserve the diverse species that inhabit this rain forest habitat. As well as a very special encounter with the ‘man of the forest’ you will observe the protected sun bears and then travel up to the coast to the Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary.

The Sepilok Nature Centre is the largest centre for rehabilitation of orangutans in the world and offers hope to those displaced by human activity, orphaned or otherwise needing assistance before they can return to live in the wild. Many of the centre’s residents are young, and you will visit the nursery for a fascinating insight into raising an orphaned orangutan for a life in the wild. During their time at the centre the orangutans are given freedom to roam but with a set feeding time; this is the time you will visit to give you the best chance of viewing them up close. (However please note that their attendance at feeding time is of their own free will and cannot be guaranteed.)
