Overview

This 15-night adventure offers a mix of cities, ancient towns, stunning beach resort and the jungles and Orangutan's of the mighty Borneo. This journey encompasses so much that Malaysia has to offer, with a variety of experiences, staying at some superb quality resorts and hotels.

Starting in Kuala Lumpur with its modern buildings like the Petronas Towers, to the old preserved buildings of Kampung Baru, this compact city has a lot to offer and wandering around is the order of the day. Then its over to Borneo, famous for its amazing Orangutans, where you will see them up close and have an opportunity to feed them at the famous Sepilok sanctuary. Its then into the jungle by boat where for 2 nights you will explore the jungle and with luck see plenty of wildlife, including Orangutans in the wild.

Back to the mainland to visit and stay at the UNESCO protected old city of Georgetown on Penang. This is a such a great place to watch the world go by.

No holiday is complete without a great beach resort and its doesn't get much better than Pangkor Laut, a beautiful resort with one of the beast beaches anywhere in the world. What a finish.

Day 1
Kuala Lumpur

Starting in Kuala Lumpur, this city offers a blend of history and modern life. From modern buildings such as the Petronas Towers to the old preserved buildings of Kampung Baru, this compact city has a lot to offer and wandering around is the order of the day. In the evening, head for the street food heaven of Jalan Alor or the famous Chinew quarter.

Your accommodation is at the stunning Villa Samadhi, a boutique resort on the metropolis of KL, offering peace and sanctuary after a days activity.

Days 2-3
Kuala Lumpur

Enjoy the next two days at leisure exploring all that Kuala Lumpur has to offer. If you are here on a Sunday, don't forget to to visit the Bangsar Sunday market where fresh flowers are everywhere.

Day 4
Sandakan

Welcome to Borneo. Upon arrival at Sandakan Airport, you’ll be met and transferred to your resort. The rest of the day is yours to relax and enjoy - perhaps take a dip in the pool, explore the surrounding rainforest, or simply unwind in this natural setting.

Day 5
Sepilok & Journey to Abai

This morning, visit the world-renowned Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, where you’ll observe these incredible primates during their feeding time. It’s a heartwarming experience to see the centre’s efforts in nursing orphaned and injured orangutans back into the wild.

You’ll also enjoy a walk through the lush Tropical Lowland Dipterocarp Forest, followed by a visit to the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, home to the world’s smallest bear species.

Later, cruise by boat to Abai and settle into the serene Abai Jungle Lodge. After lunch, embark on a peaceful river cruise along the Kinabatangan River—watch the sunset paint the sky and be enchanted by the natural display of fireflies lighting up the riverbanks. Dinner is served back at the lodge.

Day 6
Abai to Sukau via the Pitas Oxbow Lake

Start the day with a tranquil early morning river cruise to the Pitas Oxbow Lake, a haven for wildlife and birdwatching. After returning, enjoy some free time to relax or explore the area on your own.

Later, transfer by boat to Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge in Sukau, where you’ll enjoy lunch and time at leisure. In the late afternoon, set off on another wildlife river cruise, discovering more of the region’s rich biodiversity.

Day 7
Sandakan to Kota Kinabalu

After breakfast, return overland to Sandakan for your onward flight (departure flight to be after 2pm).

On arrival at Kota Kinabalu, head to your hotel and explore this small city and end with some great local food in one of the many good restaurants around.

Day 8
Penang

Take a short flight to Penangs UNESCO Historic Site of Georgetown, this fabulous city has so much history and is very walkable and flat. Every corner has another old and ancient buidling, the restaurants and bars are small, local affairs with a huge Indian influence, the curries here are world beating. We absolutely love Penang and know you will too.

Stay at the fabulous Campbell House, one of our favourite places to stay, a beautiful historic buidling with stunning rooms and in an enviable location, just around the corner from the night market street.

Days 9-10
Penang

Spend the next few days exploring Penang at your own pace

Day 11
Pangkor Laut

One of Malaysia's great beach resorts, located on Pangkor Island approx 2.5 hour drive from Penang. This resort is a hidden gem, with wonderful villas over the water and with one of the finest beaches in the world, its own private horse-shoe bay, with aqua waters, it is gorgeous. Great facilities and an outstanding spa make this the very best way to end your Malaysia adventure
