Quinta Jardins do Lago
Overview
This charming Quinta was built in the 18th century. More recently it was home to well-known French and British families. During the Napoleonic wars General Beresford, Commander of the British forces on the island, chose it as his residence. His magnificent sideboard, a reminder of his stay, still adorns the dining room.
Today, the elegant house is traditionally furnished and houses a cosy bar. The Beresford restaurant offers local and international cuisine for dinner whilst breakfast is served in a charming room with a delightful veranda.
Guest rooms are mainly in the new wing and include standard garden view, larger superior garden view twin rooms and spacious premier suites with a separate siting room. Historical junior suites are located in the eighteenth century manor house and are have large balconies facing the gardens.
Quinta Jardins do Lago provides a range of activities to keep you entertained from two outdoor pools - one of which is heated - to a traditional game of croquet on the lawn. There is also table tennis, a billiards room and a well equipped gym plus a sauna, Turkish bath and Jacuzzi to enjoy. All of the mentioned facilities are complimentary to hotel guests.
Guests can also benefit from a courtesy bus between the hotel and Funchal, running six times per day.
