Day 1
Avignon

Fly into Marseille airport where you will meet your Uniworld rep and will transfer you directly to your ship for ease and stress-free start to your cruise ahead.

Day 2
Tarascon (Arles)

Exploring the South of France couldn’t be better when walking through the beautiful city of Arles in Provence, an inspiration for many Van Gogh paintings and you can certainly see why. With an abundance of Roman architecture, you would think you were in Rome if it wasn’t without the distinguished French shutters and idyllic cobblestone streets stretching along the Rhone River. Enjoy discovering the coastal city charm on your guided walking tour.

Day 3
Avignon

A truly stunning city with magnificent fortresses, gorgeous rivers and calming ambience. You will have the choice of joining a walking tour including a visit to the Palace of the Popes or seeing the Pont du Gard Roman Aqueduct. Today’s featured excursion is kayaking on the Gardon River – a truly amazing experience and suitable for all!

This evening a special Captain’s Welcome Reception and Dinner will be prepared for you this evening.

Day 4
Viviers

Go back in time to the charming village of Viviers, over 1600 years old, this rustic town built grand architectures and is quintessentially French. Enjoy your day as you walk through Sycamore lined stone streets, learn about the Old Town and visit St. Vincent’s Cathedral. Part of today will be a “Village Day” where you can discover how local potters create their artisan goods. Step into one of two homes—one a mansion, the other more modest; take a dance class; or sample the wares at a popular bar. Don’t feel that you must opt for the bar if you’d like a little refreshment; all visits include an aperitif.

Day 5
Tournon (Tain-l’Hermitage)

A fabulous treat to visit the villages known for its fine wines Tournon and Tain-l’Hermitage. Although small, the town has a hilltop with a grand castle overlooking the village below built in the 10th century and was reconditioned over the years to protect against Protestant attacks in the 16th century. If your particular sailing is part of the Connoisseur Collection, you’ll get the chance to attend a Wine Brotherhood Ceremony at Château des Seigneurs de Tournon along with a chocolate and wine pairing. If not, you will experience delicious wine tastings in the twin villages of Tournon and Tain-l’Hermitage along with a special organ concert or for people wanting to earn their drink, hiking through the world-famous Hermitage terrace vineyards along the Rhone River and be rewarded with an exceptional wine tasting.

Day 6
Lyon

The heart and soul of French Gastronomy, Lyon is full of buzz, farmers markets and streets upon streets of secret passageways to silk weavers. Embrace the way of the locals as you explore the Lyon Peninsula on a bike tour. If you’re looking for something a little different, how about taking advantage of Lyon’s culinary status and be part of a Gastronomy Tour or participating in a walking tour of silk weavers throughout the city uncovering the historic importance of silk in Lyon.

Day 7
Mâcon (Beaune)

Arrive in Burgundy where things slow down and everyone takes it easy. Beaune is known for its beauty, medieval history and stunning wine. See the recognisable multi-coloured roof tiles of Hospices de Beaune (also known as Hotel-Dieu) founded in the 14th century. After seeing and learning the historic journey the Hospice has taken, stroll through the Old Town with an array local produce where you can purchase and enjoy during your lunch or simply take a seat outside at one of the many French cafes. Your other option is to take a Mâcon walking tour and learn its rich Roman history.

A special Captain’s Farewell Reception and Dinner will be prepared for you this evening.
