A chilled St. Lucia holiday with Izzi and Alex
Izzy and Alex travelled to St Lucia and stayed at the Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa. Here's what they had to say:
For our first holiday together we knew we wanted somewhere with typical sun, sea, sand, and chilled out vibes. I’d been to the British Virgin Islands twice with my parents on a sailing holiday before, but as Alex had never been to the Caribbean we knew we wanted to travel there for our first trip away as a couple – though we found it hard to choose between Barbados, Tobago and St Lucia. After a while we decided on St Lucia as we’d had so many great recommendations from our friends, and we didn’t want a long flight for only a week long holiday.
The staff at Coconut Bay Beach Resort were great and service was friendly all round - we never felt hassled, and we were given space to do whatever we wished – if we fancied meeting new people we could, but if we wanted a completely chilled out day we could do that too.
Though there were a variety of activities, we were never pressured into doing anything. On the first morning we both did yoga -my partner had never really done it before but thought he'd keep me company. The instructor decided he was able to push himself more, and at one point was leaning over Alex who was on his back with his legs in the air trying to get him to bend more. I can't do justice to how funny it was - the fitness teacher who taught yoga, pilates and body burn was amazing and quite the character!
I was a little worried before we went about the all inclusive meal plan, but in some ways it exceeded our expectations, particularly with the amazing breakfast selection which was delicious and La Trattoria, the Italian restaurant was also really great.
We loved spending lots of relaxing time together, and we took part in a couple of excursions too. The half day tour of the island was amazing – we saw and tried every fruit going, swam in waterfalls, zip lined through canopies and even went to a volcano! We certainly won’t forget that. We also spent half a day snorkelling around the Pitons, which was pretty good.
This was our first long holiday as a couple and it was an incredible way to spend some time together, eating lots of food every night, sipping cocktails on the beach or by the pool, and the views of the Pitons were amazing. We even had a couple’s massage one day when it rained, which we really enjoyed. The people at St Lucia are super friendly and made us feel welcome, and though I was worried there would be lots of screaming children, there weren’t. My pre-conceived idea of St Lucia was sitting by the pool with a cocktail in hand, and it certainly delivered.
We would like to thank Izzi & Alex for sharing their story with us and hope to welcome you on another holiday soon..
