This enticing retreat is located on the small island of Bequia. This is the Caribbean’s best-kept secret, hidden away amongst the St Vincent and Grenadine Islands.

Whether you arrive on Bequia by air (usually via Barbados) or by sea from St VIncent, the transfer from Bequia airport or Bequia ferry port is short and provided on a complimentary basis.

On St Vincent, the Kingstown ferry port is a 45 minute drive from Argyle airport and the jourmey to Bequia takes approximately one hour.  It must be paid for locally - tickets are bought on deck for approximately EC$25.00 per person. Please note that the last ferry usually leaves at 18.30 pm (subject to change) so international flights would need to arrive by 16.30 pm at the very latest.

Bequia airport only operates during daylight hours so it may be necessary to stay in Barbados prior to your onward flight.

The following activities are also highly recommended during your stay on Bequia

Diving
Bequia is surrounded by a fringing coral reef teeming with diverse aquatic life. It is complimented by four sunken wrecks and lots of swim-throughs. With 24 dive sites to explore it’s the diver's perfect dream. Located beside the Gingerbread Hotel, Dive Bequia is convenient for yachting divers and centrally located for land-based travellers. You can tie up your dinghy at our dive dock or they will collect you from the beaches in Admiralty Bay. They operate two very spacious 30' custom-built dive boats, shaded by full awnings to keep you out of the sun and drop-in water ladders for easy exits.

Hamilton Fort
The remains of Hamilton Fort in Bequia provide a fantastic view over Admiralty Bay towards Port Elizabeth and Princes Margaret Beach. The old fort lies to the north of Admiralty Bay and was built in the late 18th Century by the French who fortified the site to protect the harbour approach from the English.

Little now remains of the original gun battery except for a few French and English cannons which have been re-mounted here. The cannons are among many guns salvaged from the waters around Bequia. The walk from Port Elizabeth is made worthwhile by the amazing views.

Hikes and Walks
'Mount Peggy', is Bequia's highest point with beautiful, unobtrusive views of Bequia from up above. Walk from the hotel across towards La Pompe, where you will learn about the history of the whaling industry in Bequia. The climb up to Mount Peggy involves trekking through different vegetation zones, including travelling through open pastures, dry scrub bush and finally dry tropical forest to reach the spectacular view at the summit, known locally as Peggy's Rock.

Bequia Head is at the complete opposite side of the island to The Liming. This hike begins under the Almond Tree in Port Elizabeth with a walk on the road past Spring, Industry and Park beaches, before entering the stone work quarry. Following the old smugglers trail towards Bequia Head you'll look down to L'Anse Chemin, the original landing site of the first Europeans to settle on Bequia, see cinnamon and gum trees, and wild orchids growing on bare rock! Bequia Head offers a stunning view from almost 600 feet above sea level across the Bequia Channel to St. Vincent. The return journey brings you back to the quarry at Park and onto Industry Beach where you can lunch at the Crescent Bay Bar & Restaurant or relax for the afternoon, before walking or catching a taxi back to Port Elizabeth.

Island Hopping
Bequia is surrounded by some of the most beautiful waters in the world for sailing. The harbour in Admiralty Bay is famous as a mecca for visiting yachts, with safe sheltered anchoring, plentiful marine services, and a lively yachting community.

Exploring the neighbouring Grenadine islands as part of a vacation in Bequia is a must - a trip to the fabulous Tobago Cays will be unforgettable, as will a visit to the island of Mustique to rub shoulders with the rich and famous. There are many options to explore the other islands; private speedboat hire, speedboat charter or yacht charter

Turtle Sanctuary
Local fisherman, Orton ‘Brother’ King, constructed this sanctuary in an effort to preserve the hawksbill turtle. The centre is open to the public with a small donation as a entry fee. All ages of Turtles can be found from babies of two weeks or adults of 25 years.

Whale and Dolphin Watching
Several species of whale have been recorded in the waters of St. Vincent & The Grenadines, including humpback whales, sperm whales and pilot whales.  The best time to see them is usually between the months of December to April though it is possible to encounter them all year round. Dolphin species in the nearby waters include spinner dolphins, bottlenose dolphins and common dolphins.

Yacht Charter
Sail in an historic trading Schooner – Friendship Rose – to the beautiful & uninhabited islands of the Grenadines. This relaxing day trip is filled with snorkelling and watching out for flying fish, turtles, dolphins and whales.

The Liming will be undergoing renovations to facilities from 01 May to 01 November 2024
