Day 1 – 4
Your flight from the UK takes you via Johannesburg to Hoedspruit – gateway to the Kruger National Park. On arrival you will be met by your driver/guide who will take you on your 90 minute transfer to Garonga Game reserve. Your home for the next 3 nights. On route you may be lucky to spot one of the Big 5 who are prevalent around the area.
Garonga is situated in the 60,000 acre private Makalali Conservancy where morning and sunset game drives offer you the opportunity to experience incredible wildlife encounters.
The camp itself offers a relaxing natural experience where the accommodation reflects the surrounding bush.
When you are not out and about tracking wildlife such as Lions, Elephants, Rhinos, Giraffes and the elusive Leopard you can take full advantage of the relaxing pool which overlooks the bush or experience a massage at the Sala overlooking the riverbed. Garonga is all about the little extras and guests here are able to experience the Bush Bath – an outdoor bath set overlooking the surrounding landscape where you can enjoy a glass of wine whilst listening to the sounds of the bush from the comfort of a warm bubble bath. There is also a Sleep Out – a viewing deck with a four-poster bed where you can enjoy dinner under the stars and spend the night alone in the bush.
The food is superb and is accompanied by a varied selection of excellent South African wines. At least once during your stay you will enjoy your dinner at the Boma – complete with a bar and fireplaces, this is one of our favourite areas where you can sit and reminisce about your day.
Day 4 – 5
This morning after your final game drive you will say goodbye to your wildlife adventure as your guide takes you back to Hoedspruit airport for your flight to Johannesburg. On arrival you will be transferred to your hotel for this evening – Peermont Mondior or similar.
Day 5 - 8
After breakfast at your hotel you will transfer back to Johannesburg airport to catch your flight to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, where you will spend your next 3 nights. On arrival you will be collected and transferred by road and then boat to Victoria Falls River Lodge located right on the edge of the mighty Zambezi. This beautiful lodge is an ideal place to relax and recharge your batteries after your early mornings on safari. There is a beautiful spa where you can enjoy a spot of pampering and an infinity pool to cool down from the heat of the day.
Accommodation here is in luxurious thatched tents which are constructed of canvas, glass and wood. Each has an indoor and outdoor shower and a private deck with a plunge pool from where you have panoramic views of the Zambezi River
A highlight over the next few days will of course be a trip to Victoria Falls – ‘the smoke that thunders’. Here is one of the few places in the world where the Lunar Rainbow occurs regularly. Marvel at the powerful water cascading over the edge from one of the 16 viewpoints. A photographer’s dream.
There are plenty of other activities on offer such as bush walks, walking with lions, scenic helicopter flights, quad and mountain biking, devil’s pool, abseiling, gorge swing and zip lines.
Day 8
After breakfast at the lodge, your African adventure draws to a close as you are transferred back to Victoria Falls airport for your flight back to the UK. Alternatively you can choose to extend your stay in Botswana. Just a 2-hour road transfer across the border, the Ngoma Safari Lodge is a perfect add on to an already amazing adventure.
