Overview

This safari combines two of our favourite wildlife areas, Ol Pejeta and the Masai Mara - flying in-between to maximise your time viewing game.  Ideal to add on a Mombasa or Zanzibar beach stay.

Visiting two game viewing areas gives you diversity in scenery as well as wildlife.  Ol Pejeta is a thriving Conservancy in the Laikipia county area that has become famous for its Rhino Sanctuary and impressive numbers of both Black and White Rhino.  The wildlife area is full of all the game you would want to view as well including Lions, Elephants and Hyena.

The Masai Mara will be your second stop.  This game viewing area has it all but is particularly well known for its thriving Big Cat populations.  You will be in for a real treat on every game drive.

We have a wide choice of properties for you to choose from on this safari option and can tailor to your needs, both in terms of comfort levels and by durations easily adding on extra nights or additional locations.

We highly recommend staying in a conservancy in the Masai Mara (game viewing areas adjacent to the main parks) as well as in Laikipia.  These areas will showcase the same diversity of wildlife but in a quieter private environment with less vehicles making your experience far more enjoyable. A wider range of activities are also permitted in conservancies such as night drives and bush walks.

Recommended Properties to stay at are:

Porini Rhino.  An award-winning eco-friendly luxury camp based in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy.  The conservancy has the largest number of Rhino you will see in any East Africa game viewing area and is briming with all the big game you would want to view.

Porini Mara.  Another award-winning eco-friendly luxury camp based in the Ol Kinyei Conservancy bordering the main Masia Mara Game Reserve.  This large conservancy offers another secluded away from the crowd’s game viewing experience will be experienced here.

 

All Safari game drives will be in 4x4 purpose build safari vehicles and guided by expert qualified local drivers.

Both of these options will include all meals and drinks.

 

Important Luggage Restriction: Soft Sided Bags only, with max weight of 15kg.  If you are heading onwards to a beach location or other safari adventure, we can store your main luggage for you during this trip.

Day 1

Your journey starts in Nairobi where you will be picked up from the international airport or hotel if you have an overnight stop.  You will be transferred to Wilson Airport where you will take a short morning flight of around an hour to Nanyuki. You will be met and transferred to your camp in time for lunch, relaxation and then an afternoon game drive with a sundowner.  Back to camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 2

You will have both morning and evening game drives, most definitely with a sundowner before heading back to camp for dinner and overnight.  During the day back at camp, why not try out the game viewing hide located near to the salt lick near the camp.

Day 3

You will have time for a brief early morning game drive and breakfast before its time to head to the airstrip for your flight onto the Masai Mara.  You will take a short flight up to Wilson and then onto the Masai Mara, both flights around an hour.  You will be met and transferred to your camp in time for lunch, relaxation and then an afternoon game drive with a sundowner.  Back to camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 4

You will have a morning and afternoon game drive in the conservancy.  As it will be your last full day on safari, you can discuss with your driver guide if there is any particular wildlife you have not had a good viewing of yet or would like to see more of.  The day can easily be tailored around your needs to maximise your chance of success.  Overnight and dinner will be at camp again.

Day 5

If you are in the main Mara Reserve, you will have a leisurely breakfast, check out and be transported to your local airstrip for your flight back to Nairobi Wilson.  If you are in a conservancy, you may wish to take one last game drive this morning before breakfast and check out.

Once back in Nairobi, you are well placed for any onward journey you wish.  Perhaps the Kenya beach or a beach further afield – or perhaps head to Uganda or Rwanda for a Gorilla Trek – speak to your team for inspiration.

If you are going to the Kenya coast – there are options to fly directly there rather than back through Nairobi – please ask our team and they would be delighted to advise you on the best logistics for your trip.
